The Boss DD-8 Digital Delay is the most comprehensive delay pedal in the popular Compact Pedals series to date, combining versatile echo sounds and intuitive operation. A total of ten different delays are available, ranging from traditional vintage tape delays to transparent digital delays and modern variations with reverb or shimmer. Additionally, the stereo effect pedal has an integrated looper with up to 40 seconds of mono recording time or 20 seconds in stereo mode. The Boss DD-8 Digital Delay also allows for connection with optionally available tap tempo footswitches or expression pedals.
In detail, the DD-9 Digital Delay provides ten different delays: Analog, Standard, Tape, Warm, Reverse, +Reverb, Shimmer, Modulated, Warp and GLT, including Looper.
Analog mode delivers a classic analog BBD (Bucket Brigade Device) delay sound that is warm and organic. Standard mode is a transparent digital delay which produces clear and precise repeats. Tape mode emulates the characteristic sound of vintage tape delays, while Warm mode is a smooth digital delay producing warm, analog repeats. Reverse mode provides reverse delays that offer psychedelic effects and exotic inverted sounds. The +RV mode combines digital delay with reverb delivering both effects simultaneously and creating a wide wall of ambience. With Shimmer mode, opulent and shimmering textures can be created through pitch-shift delays, ideal for atmospheric soundscapes. Mod mode combines digital delays with modulatable repeats, adding movement and depth to the sound.
Warp mode is unique and offers expressive pedal control. Continuously pressing the pedal increases the feedback rate and volume, creating swelling ambient effects. The GLT mode is newly developed and creates a "glitchy machine gun effect" when the switch is held down. Different sounds can be created with the controls for feedback and delay time. Finally, Loop mode features a loop recorder that allows overdubs and offers up to 40 seconds of recording time via the mono input (20 seconds in stereo configurations).
