Shimano Hyperglide cassettes (HG cassettes) have strategically-positioned ramps and special tooth profiles so that the chain can be completely guided directly onto the next sprocket. This prevents the chain from just touching the tips of the teeth before it actually touches down. This optimises the chain guide and enables fast, highly efficient shifting.
