With the Custom JB 5 Cream, the Fame Custom Line Series is expanding its portfolio with new electric basses that are not only characterised by their beautiful vintage J-style look including exotic finishes, but also impress with their high-quality workmanship. Highlights include the roasted maple neck with fingerboard and 21 stainless steel frets, while two Fame single coils in combination with the active preamp including 3-band EQ provide plenty of tonal possibilities. Those who prefer the untouched basic sound of the instrument can also enjoy the Custom JB in passive mode thanks to the active/passive mini-switch. The new Fame basses combine high-quality tonewoods, durable hardware components, versatile sounds and a strong vintage flair, making the Custom JB a reliable all-rounder for the rehearsal room, studio or stage!
Under the hood, the body is made of mahogany/alder and has a nitrocellulose finish. The bolt-on neck made of heat-treated maple is extremely comfortable to grip thanks to its modern "C" profile and is optimally designed for fast, dynamic playing. The oiled neck surface of the roasted maple neck provides additional comfort, giving a smooth playing feel even during long sessions. The roasted maple fingerboard with 21 stainless steel jumbo frets, classic Block-Inlays and a radius of 13.75" allows both precise bass lines in the lower registers and effortless riffs in the upper registers. With a long-scale scale length of 34", the Custom JB offers the ideal string tension for a tight response.
The sound of the Fame Custom JB also impresses with a modern interpretation of the vintage J-style sound. Two Fame single coils in the middle and bridge position deliver the typical punch, complemented by defined highs and a clear attack. The pickups can be specifically adjusted via volume, balance and 3-band EQ controls (bass, mids, treble), so that everything from classic J-style sounds to assertive rock and funk timbres is possible. A mini-switch can be used to switch between active and passive mode - in passive mode, a tone control is available to trim the treble if required. or crisp slap sounds, rich low-frequency foundations or transparent bass lines: the Custom JB covers a wide stylistic range and always remains assertive.
