The Shimano Di2 wireless unit EW-WU111 wirelessly transmits data such as the current gear, shift mode (manual or Synchro Shift) or battery level - the D-Fly technology makes it possible. This information can then be displayed on an ANT+ or Bluetooth compatible bicycle computer or Shimano Di2 display. The wireless unit receives its information from the battery or the battery mount. Thus, settings can also be easily changed with a smartphone using the E-Tube platform. EW-WU101 has two E-Tube connections and is mounted to the frame with clips.

Shimano D-Fly is a Near Field Communication (NFC) network that allows Shimano E-Tube electronic components (Di2, STEPS) and smartphones or compatible bike computers to communicate with each other.
