The Blackstar IDX:50 is a digital 50-watt modeling combo with a 12" Anthem speaker, which is suitable for home use as well as for rehearsal rooms or small stages thanks to its flexible functions. A total of six different voicings can be set via the voice switch, which can be used to cover all genres from pop to rock, from classic cleans to rich Overdrive. In addition, the so-called "Response" section offers three tube simulations (EL84, EL34, 6L6), which can be used to influence the dynamic behavior and compression of the distortion. The patented ISF control makes it possible to continuously adjust the frequency image between British and American sound coloration, which, in combination with the 3-band EQ, allows all sounds to be precisely adjusted.
In addition to the six voicings, the IDX:50 offers an effects section with over 35 effects, which are divided into four categories: Pre-FX, Modulation, Delay and Reverb. The effects can be activated via dedicated buttons and edited at Display. Tap tempo, power level switch (1 W / 10 W / 50 W) and a cab rig switch for selecting the internal speaker simulations are also directly accessible.
The IDX:50 offers various connections for practical use: a serial FX loop, a line-in for feeding in external audio signals such as z. B. backing tracks and a footswitch input. Control is either via the physical user interface or via Blackstar Architect software on the computer. A line output for direct miking and a USB-C connection are available for recording and monitoring applications. With its compact housing and a weight of 12 kg, the IDX:50 is easy to transport and versatile in use. The combination of an easy-to-use user interface, extensive connection options and versatile sound design makes it a practical tool for anyone who doesn't want to compromise between the classic amp experience and modern modeling features.
