The Shimano shifter SL-RS700-I scores with I-Spec II and 2-Way Release The Shimano SL-RS700 2x11-speed shifter is also available in a version for I-Spec II mounting. This allows the shifter to be mounted on a compatible brake lever, which saves space on the handlebars and also reduces weight. The SL-RS700-I was designed for use on road or city bikes with flat handlebars, i.e. without a drop bar. It is equipped with MTB's Rapidfire Plus technology, so it can downshift several gears at once, and has the 2-Way Release function, which allows the release lever to be operated with the index finger (pull) or thumb (push). Also worth noting is Instant Release for super-fast shifting operations, as well as Multi Release for the 11-speed version. In the latter version, one gear can be shifted by pulling and two gears by pressing. The housing of the shifter is made of aluminium, and carbon was also used for the levers. An inner cable with wear-reducing SIL-TEC coating is included. Two levers, the main lever and the release lever, are used instead of a twist shifter. Rapidfire Plus shift levers, as the name suggests, ensure fast shifting. In addition, depending on the model, it is possible to downshift up to three gears with one shift stroke. 2-Way-Release With 2-Way-Release, the shifter can be pressed and pulled to shift to the smaller sprocket or chainring. Instant Release With Instant Release, the spring and thus the cable are released immediately when the lever is actuated, which ensures an enormously fast shifting process. Multi Release With the Multi Release, which only affects the right-hand shift lever, two gears can be shifted with one actuation of the release lever without loss of shifting speed. I-Spec II I-Spec II describes a variant of the connection between the brake lever and the shift lever on MTB or, more precisely, flatbar gears from Shimano. SIL-TEC SIL-TEC is a fluorine particle-based surface coating from Shimano. It results in smoother, lower friction operation and less contamination. This makes maintenance easier, reduces wear and extends the service life of SIL-TEC components.
