To activate the hardware unlock, the controller must be connected to the computer via USB and switched on while the software is running. The software uses a handshake protocol to check whether the controller is unlocked and automatically activates the Pro features without the need to enter a serial number.

The Pioneer DJ DDJ-REV5 is a 2-channel DJ controller fully compatible with rekordbox DJ and Serato DJ Pro. It delivers an authentic scratching experience alongside a host of innovative features designed to enhance creative DJ performances across various formats. The large jog wheels, combined with the durable MAGVEL FADER, ensure precise and refined scratching capabilities. The horizontally arranged, long pitch faders above the deck sections, along with the placement of the performance pads and lever FX in the mixer section, are inspired by setups favoured by open-format DJs worldwide. Additionally, the controller includes stems control buttons, enabling real-time live mashups and remixes. This allows individual track elements, such as drums or vocals, to be isolated, played, or muted as desired. Another innovative feature is the Auto BPM Transition, which enables seamless mixing of tracks with varying tempos. This function gradually adjusts the tempo of a track over a specified number of beats, creating transitions without audible breaks. By eliminating restrictions to specific BPM ranges, it offers greater creative freedom. The Piano Play feature provides a unique musical experience by allowing cue points to be triggered in different semitones. The pitch changes are laid out on the 16 performance pads, resembling the arrangement of a piano keyboard. The DDJ-REV5 combines advanced technology with an intuitive design, providing DJs with a versatile and creative tool for their performances.

The jog wheels built into the Pioneer DJ - DDJ-REV5 have a size of 20 cm, have been given a vinyl look and can be adjusted in resistance to your own taste and preference via a specially designed potentiometer, just like on the CDJ players. By pressing lightly on the surface of the jog wheels, users can scratch immediately. In addition, the integrated displays provide needle marker information.

The Stems option makes it possible to divide songs into individual tracks such as voices, melody, bass or rhythm using the buttons provided for this purpose and to activate or deactivate these tracks to your heart's content. This way, tracks or loops from other songs can be added or completely new mash-ups and own versions of a favourite track can be created. In addition, the volumes of these stem tracks can be adjusted via the EQ knobs, just like on a mixer.

This feature makes cross-genre mixing at different speeds a breeze! By selecting the bar length for the desired transition, the tempo of the playing song adjusts step by step to the tempo of the next track, with amazingly good results, giving DJs more freedom to focus on creative processes.

Just as in Pitch Play mode, the 16 performance pads allow you to activate individual cue points in different semitones. In the new Piano Play mode, the pads are designed to correspond to a piano keyboard. This allows users, even without prior knowledge of music theory and keys, to select one of the three available keys and effortlessly create new melodies.
