The Zoom Podtrack P8 features 6 high-quality mic preamps that can drive microphones like the Shure SM7B noise-free with their maximum 70dB gain. In addition, each channel is assigned a complete channel strip with equalizer, limiter, compressor/de-esser, mute switch and an on-air function, whereby the on-air switch controls whether the corresponding signal is streamed or recorded. This function is useful for agreements between speakers or pause conversations between interviewees.
The Zoom Podtrack P8 is designed for both computer work and stand-alone operation: When connected to a computer or iOS device, it works as an audio interface with 13 inputs and 2 outputs. It can be used directly for streaming. Alternatively, it can also be used as a portable studio: Up to 512GB SD cards are supported and editing functions for cutting, splitting and threading are accessible via the LCD touch screen. Another plus for mobility is the optional battery operation.
A separate channel is provided for the transmission of telephone calls, which can be played either directly over the phone or via the computer. A mixminus function ensures that echoes and feedbacks in the line are avoided. Via the 6 headphone outputs of the Podtrack P8, the volume of the monitoring can be adjusted separately for each call participant. 9 sound pads allow direct firing of recordings and jingles and can be assigned by the user either with the 13 factory presets or own sounds in up to 4 sound banks.
